As a volunteer-based organization, Bay Valley Chinese School thrives on the mutual support of our families. We are dedicated to cultivating a welcoming, friendly, and collaborative environment, where experienced volunteers mentor and assist those new to our community. Volunteer Roles
Teaching Assistants (TA) — Support classroom instruction and activities under teacher’s supervision.
This role is ideal for high school students with a strong Mandarin background and a genuine interest in working with children.
An interview and skills assessment are required. TA will be awarded community service hours.
Campus Patrol — Ensure campus safety and provide essential student supervision during school hours.
As part of the enrollment policy, parents are required to complete a minimum of two evenings per school year.
The campus patrol schedule is released at the beginning of the school year, and friendly reminder will be emailed prior to your assigned shifts.
Room Parent — Oversee the use of class fees and assist teachers with extracurricul activities.
School Event Support — Assist with the planning, coordination, and on-site support for major school events.
Major events include:
Ice-Cream Social (August)
Halloween Parade (October)
Chinese New Year Celebration (January/February)
End-of-Year Carnival (May)
Administrative Staff — Help monitor school operations, maintain academic quality, and elevate the overall student experience.
To ensure a safe and trustworthy school environment, background checks are required for administrative staff members who handle sensitive information and directly coordinate with families, students, and teachers.
Mandarin language skills are preferred but not required.

Administrative Staff are exempt from the mandatory Campus Patrol requirement.
