History
Founded in 2001, Bay Valley Chinese School (BVCS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, parent-supported organization with over 20 years of service to the Tri-Valley community in the San Francisco Bay Area. BVCS provides high-quality Mandarin Chinese language and cultural education for students from kindergarten through 8th grade.
Mission
BVCS is committed to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment where students develop Mandarin language proficiency and gain a meaningful appreciation of Chinese culture. Our caring, energetic, and experienced teachers strive to inspire students through effective instruction and cultural enrichment.
Program Structure
Located at Pine Valley Middle School in San Ramon, BVCS serves over 200 families and offers Friday evening classes from mid-August through May. The program emphasizes traditional Chinese characters, small class sizes, and progressive language development, including advanced Pinyin beginning in 6th grade. To ensure continuity of learning, online classes are provided when campus access is unavailable.
Core Values
BVCS is dedicated to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students, families, staff, and volunteers. The school enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy for abuse, harassment, or neglect, supported by mandatory training, clearly defined procedures, and strict reporting protocols. BVCS does not discriminate based on race, color, nationality, ethnic origin, or religion.
